HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR THAI SILK

Thai silk is known for its rare luminescent characteristics and is a protein, like human hair.  And just like your hair, should be treated kindly.

  • Professional dry cleaning is recommended to maintain your silk garment’s color, especially if it’s a bright color.  Dry cleaning is absolutely required if your garment is lined, trimmed, or made with multiple colors of silk.
  • Some light weight Thai silks, such as scarves, may be gently hand washed in cool water with a pure mild soap, never detergent.  A tablespoon of white vinegar may be added when you rinse to help maintain luminescence.  Gently squeeze, never wring the water from your Thai silk.  To dry, Thai silk should be hung indoors or in the shade.  Never use a dryer.
  • To iron Thai silk, use a low silk setting and iron the inside of the garment.
